Metadact^® combines the best of Out-of-Sight^® and Metadata Sweeper^® to bring you a metadata management utility that reduces the risk of unintentional disclosure of confidential information embedded in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and PDF documents electronically exchanged with outside parties. This user-friendly utility provides a mechanism to analyze and clean documents before they are sent out. It integrates with multiple e-mail systems so users are prompted to remove metadata from documents attached to e-mails prior to sending.

What is Metadact?

Metadact is an upgrade from the original SoftWise Out-of-Sight metadata management product, that was merged with Litéra's Metadata Sweeper, and has been renamed to Metadact. It is a user-friendly utility which enables safe and effective removal of metadata in all Microsoft Office and PDF documents. By doing this, it helps you protect yourself, your company’s and your clients’ confidential information.

Clean and convert Office documents to PDF format, and clean native PDF files.

XML-based reports let you review metadata detected in documents and save reports for future retrieval.

Batch clean from folders or when e-mailing multiple documents.

Integrates with Microsoft Windows Explorer and document management systems with an easy right-click command to clean a document without having to open it first.

Clean profiled documents in document management systems and check-in or attach cleaned files.

Administrators can customize Metadact to clean or not clean any metadata object and can set limits on users’ abilities to change those group settings.

Specify “safe” e-mail domains so that documents sent to designated recipients are not cleaned.

Accept or ignore active track changes in a document prior to cleaning.

Features a fully MSI-compliant install, for comprehensive flexibility and control in desktop deployment.

Metadact^e (Server-Based Metadata Cleaning)



Metadact^e® will soon be publicly available. Features of the server-based metadata cleaning solution include mechanisms for central policy management, user intervention controlled by central policy management and a patent-pending unified platform for mail gateway including Webmail and Blackberry attachments.
